In this article, we will show you an indoor cultivation experiment, you will learn how to use a grow light well to have the most profitable harvest. At the same time, you will know why a smart grow light may be necessary for a grower.
About photoperiod
There is a direct link between flowering and photoperiod in plants.
For short-night plants (such as barley, wheat, rye, radishes, spinach, kale, Chinese cabbage, beets, etc.), the plants will not bloom if the light is shorter than a certain amount of time.
For long-night plants (such as hemp, rice, corn, soybean, sorghum, cocklebur, strawberry, tobacco, chrysanthemum, begonia, morning glory, etc.), if the light time is longer than a certain time, or there is a short flash in the dark area , will cause the plant not to bloom.
Different plants have their critical day length, which is the ultimate length of sunlight required for a flower. Plants that cannot bloom when the sunshine hours exceed this critical day length are called absolute short-day plants, and plants that cannot bloom until the sunshine hours exceed this critical day length are called absolute long-day plants.
At the same time, in addition to flowering, plant growth is also closely related to photoperiod.
