Scientists did an experiment ever:Selected three different cultivars of cannabis, Type I (Larry OG), Type II (Pootie Tang), and Type III (Super White).
Then during the last two weeks of the flowering stage, each cultivar was subjected to the same UVA light, and blue + red light.
The result is :
For Type I, the THC content of cannabis added with UV light increased by 3.6% compared to the control group, and the THC content of cannabis added with blue + red light increased by 2.9% compared with the control group.
For Type III, the THC content of cannabis added with UV light increased by 4.1% compared to the control group, and the THC content of cannabis added with blue + red light increased by 3.9% compared to the control group.
For Type II, however, there was no significant change in the THC content of cannabis comapred to the control group.
This experiment shows that UVA can indeed have a positive effect on the production of THC.
It also shows that even under the same light and the same cultivation conditions, the final result will vary due to differences in plant species.
In the actual cultivation situation, growers may not know the best planting strategy for different plant varieties, or over time, growers often need to change the planted varieties for higher economic benefits. In this case, it is necessary to replace the grow light with a new one with more suitable spectrum to achieve the best return on investment.
